Frequently asked questions

What is Stash Route?

Stash Route is a free planning tool that turns a savings goal into a randomized deposit ledger, so instead of the same amount every period you get varied deposits that always add up to your target by the date you choose. You can plan a plain savings goal, or switch to Investment mode to see how the same contributions could grow if invested instead.

Does Stash Route hold, move, or invest my money?

No. Stash Route is a calculator, not a bank, broker, or investment platform. It never asks for account numbers or payment details, and it never sends or receives money on your behalf. Every figure it shows is a projection for you to act on yourself, however you choose.

Where do the investment growth rates come from?

Each option's rate is the trailing 10-year annualized return calculated from public market data (an index or ETF price series for stocks, gold, and bonds, and BTC/USD price history for Bitcoin). A background job recalculates all five rates once a year, so the figures track the most recent 10-year window rather than staying fixed forever.

What does "In today's money" mean?

It takes your projected future amount, whether that is a savings goal or an investment projection, and discounts it by your chosen country's average inflation rate over the time between now and that date. The result is roughly what that future amount would be worth if you had it in hand today, in terms of purchasing power.

Where does the inflation data come from?

Inflation figures are the trailing 10-year average annual change in consumer prices (CPI) for each country, sourced from the World Bank's open data. Like the investment rates, this is recalculated once a year so it stays current.

Do I need an account?

No. Your ledger is saved locally in your own browser, and no sign-up is required to use the site.

Can I export my plan?

Yes. Once you lay out a ledger, the "Export as CSV" button gives you a copyable, spreadsheet-ready version of the full deposit schedule.
